Workshop mit Bettina Varwig: Music, Emotions and the Body

As with music, emotions are an ephemeral phenomenon. Consequently, it is not always readily apparent from historical sources what musicking in its various forms may have felt like in the past. In this brief workshop, we will discuss methodologies for approaching music and emotions in music history in collaboration with music historian Prof. Dr Bettina Varwig (University of Cambridge), with a particular focus on the role of the body in historical sources.
